With some of the stress gone today, my hunger came back and I ate more food. I think my body needed it because, according to my FitBit Aria Smart Scale, my weight dropped to 157 lb. This is not good.

I need to manage stress better–I need to get to the gym! As always…

Changed Up Fasting

After a great night of sleep I woke up in a great mood, but uncharacteristically hungry. I am pretty consistent with my practice of intermittent fasting which means I usually have my first meal around noon. I changed things up and had my first meal at a more traditional breakfast time–in the morning.

Otherwise I had a decent dietary day, pretty much following my version of Primal/Paleo eating when it came to food. I did attend a friend’s birthday party and had a few adult beverages, but I didn’t overdo it!

I hope your weekend is going well and, as always…

A Fairly Primal/Paleo Day

I woke up feeling okay after almost eight hour of sleep–maybe a little groggy from the wine yesterday. šŸ˜‰ I feel very good about my eating today as I stuck fairly close to my version of Primal/Paleo eating. I had a bunch of leftovers I needed to consume so I did bratwurst and fresh kale sauteed in bacon fat for lunch and leftover smoked chicken for dinner.

I stayed with the intermittent fasting routine by eating only two meals at about noon and then dinner at about six in the evening. I’ve been monitoring myself each morning when I wake up to see if my body is in ketosis, and I have been for a couple of weeks now. Maintaining this ketogenic state allows me to focus on just about everything other than hunger and food–my body is using my own stored fat as fuel. Oh yeah, the side benefit for me is a lean body with little effort! šŸ˜‰

I hope the weekend treated you right and, as always…

Low Carbin’

After my mini-vacation, I’m back to trying to get back to keeping my carbohydrate intake low. For me this means ingesting under 200g of carbs. The reason is that my testing has shown that I seem to keep myself in a ketogenic state at around that level of carbohydrate intake.

The benefit for me of staying in ketosis is staying lean with little effort, and a superior mental state. It seems when I slip out of ketosis, due to eating refined sugar, grains, and processed food, my hunger becomes unbearable and the desire to eat things not adhering to my version of Primal/Paleo is overpowering and I fall into a downward spiral.

It feels good to get back in track–as always…

One Meal Day

Wow! It’s June already??? Woke up feeling great as I got my desired eight hours of sleep. Very busy day in which I ended up eating a single meal in the evening (after my late afternoon workout). As I’ve mentioned before, one of the great benefits of keeping my body in a ketogenic state is the ability to function at a high level without the distraction of overpowering hunger or the symptoms of “low blood sugar,” like brain fog, lack of focus, dizziness and being downright “hangry.” :)

I hope your work week is kicking off nicely and, as always…

Single Meal Saturday

Got a bunch of sleep last night and woke up feel refreshed and reduced stress levels. I went a little crazy yesterday by packing in an estimated 3,264 calories and, maybe not a big surprise, I wasn’t hungry until after my afternoon workout. But after pounding the weights I was ready to eat for sure!

I have been successful in returning my body to ketogenic state the last few days–it will be interesting to see if the massive carbohydrate load, an estimated 311g,Ā  that came with the Chinese meal will put me out of ketosis when I test in the morning.

Hope the weekend is going well for you and, as always…

Listened To My Body

green-smoothy-featured

The green smoothy made it back into my diet today. My Vitamix makes the best green smoothies!

Seems like the past few days I’ve been consuming a few hundred calories more than normal but today it seems my body seemed to want less. I listened and, as a result, only ate about 1,600 calories. The point is, I find when sticking to my version of Primal/Paleo eating and I stay away from sugar, grains, and processed food, I don’t engage in mindless snacking. Perhaps this is because sugar and high carbohydrates consumption always makes me hungry and I can’t seem to eat enough. I guess low-carb, higher fat intake keeps me satisfied and probably results in a reasonable amount of calorie consumption.

I sure hope your week is progressing nicely and, as always…

Big Lifting, Big Hunger

I woke up a little sleepy again this morning but in a great mood ’cause today is a workout day! Per usual on gym days, I took my daily dose of creatine and, on the way to the gym, pounded a can of Celsius and drank my pre-workout BCAAs.

The workout was intense, and man did I eat! In keeping with my daily intermittent fasting habit, I ate my first meal around 1:30pm. I got busy working and ended up cooking, so we ordered food from Chilis for dinner and that resulted in a bad choice, boneless wings. I did also get a salad…so, not all bad. :)

Hope your hump day went well and, as always…

Sunday Dinner, That’s It

Spent all day working on a project–sitting in a chair in front of a computer. I was working so intently I completely forgot to eat. I ended up eating one full meal in the evening.

I love not being a slave to hunger! :) Keeping it short today so, as always…

Sittin’ In A Chair All Day

I’ve got an obsessive/compulsive side to me! That can be a good thing and sometimes a bad thing. :) I spent ALL day in my office, mostly sitting in a chair, working on a project on the computer. It was so much fun! Many don’t know I started my career as a software developer and I forgot how much I enjoy programming.

Today was one of those days that intermittent fasting and ketogenic eating are such a great things as today I was so consumed in my project that when I noticed hunger, it was already after 2pm! Hunger doesn’t rule my life! :)

I hope your weekend is going great and, as always…
