Workout: December 18, 2015

This week continued to be a struggle with respect to food choices, but I made it to the gym and followed my StrongLifts Advanced program consistently ALL WEEK!

Today I did squats, bench press, and Pendlay rows with a side order of chin-us.

Workout: December 1, 2015

Little bit of work related stress today, so I’m glad I was able to hit the gym for squats, bench press, Pendlay rows with a side order of chin-ups. I am still loosely following StrongLifts Advanced, modifying and mixing in some StrongLifts 5×5. I think I’m getting parallel on my squats, but it looks like I’m still folding at the top, which seems to happen at the heavier weight (225 lbs in the picture below).

Punished Myself In The Gym

Workout: November 6, 2015

After a week of bad dietary choices, I punished myself in the gym today with barbell squats, bench press, Pendlay rows along with chin-ups and pull-ups–all part of my StrongLifts Advanced program. As I’ve mentioned, the squats are getting heavier and tonight I felt a little pain in my right knee, but it faded by the end of the session.

What a fantastic workout–I paid the price for a bad week of eating. As always…

Workout: October 27, 2015

Doing the Wednesday StrongLifts Advanced workout today in the new gym with all its bright, shiny new equipment. I did squats, bench press, Pendlay rows and finished with some chin-ups.

This place is huge compared to my old gym, so never had to stress about using the rack or finding a bench–cool. :)

Workout: October 23, 2015

So happy to get a workout in today, and I was rewarded with a personal record (PR) for the bench press – one rep at 220 lb. I’m getting closer to my goal of bench pressing 225 lb. or two plates. I also did squats, Pendlay rows and threw in some chin-ups.

Felt great to get a lift in after a few days of business travel–as always…

Tried A Double Workout

I missed my Wednesday and Friday workouts this week, so I tried to do BOTH workouts in an attempt to catch up. This is Week #2 of my current StrongLifts Advanced cycle so today, after my normal warm up exercises, I did squats, standing overhead press, deadlift, bench press, and Pendlay rows–then I through in a few chin-ups.

This was a big workout for me in terms of volume, not heavy weight, but it felt great to catch up a bit.

Back In The Gym

foam-rollerAfter a week of rest and staying away from the gym to let my sore hip heal up a but, I got a workout in tonight. I spent a bunch of time foam rolling and stretching before lifting, then did Pendlay rows, bench press, and some pull-ups and chin-ups. Not squats just yet–still a little sore.

Feels good to get back in the gym–as always…

Catching Up On Workouts

deadlift-shin-skinsWork and lack of sleep kept me out of the gym early in the week. I did manage to get one session in on Thursday, so I tried to combine the other two sessions today. I did a bunch of warm up by foam rolling, stretching, body weight squats, and front squats. The main lifts were dead lift, standing overhead press, bench press, and Pendlay rows. I threw in a few sets of chin-ups as well.

Now that the dead lifts are getting heavy for me and the barbells I’m using are new, I used some protection for my shins because I keep ripping the skin on my shins!

Felt good to “catch up” on some missed work–as always…

Back On Schedule

After traveling last week, I’m happy to get back on schedule with my workouts. Today I started Week #7 of my current StrongLifts Advanced cycle which featured squats, bench press, and Pendlay rows. I did the usual warmup of foam rolling, stretching, body weight squats, and front squats. I also did some chin-ups and pull-ups as well.
