Food: December 14, 2015

Things have been stressful in the work department the past couple of weeks. This weekend, starting with Friday night, I completely went off rails from a food perspective including copious amounts of Chinese food, gallons of alcohol, and other nasty things. Today I righted the ship nutritionally AND I got a great workout in!

I’m really trying to stick with my version of Primal/Paleo eating, but I am struggling with consistency. :(

I hope everyone is keeping the stress low and the nutrition high and, as always…

Food: November 13, 2015

The weekend is almost here–TGIF! I woke up in a good mood, looking forward to the last day of the work week. Kind of a weird eating day for me as I skipped cooking my first meal as ended up just eating a bag of nuts, then I had leftover pork chops with apples, a baked potato with butter and cheese, and steamed zucchini and yellow squash for dinner (with a couple glasses of red wine). Then I popped popcorn with coconut oil and butter for a snack. For some reason my ketosis test failed even though this type of eating wouldn’t normally take my body out of ketosis. There are lots of factors that may have caused this like I drank alcohol, didn’t drink enough water, didn’t exercise or walk much…who knows?

Looking forward to a couple of relaxing days–as always…

Food: November 7, 2015

I woke up this fine Saturday feeling rested and in a great mood. All the stresses of the work week had magically melted away. As usual, I practiced intermittent fasting eating my first meal at about 12:30pm, eggs bacon and a green smoothie, and my last meal at a little after 8pm, my usual salad from Chipotle.

Today was one of those days where my body craved nutrition–I had no interest in junk food. I guess maybe my body is trying to heal from last week’s sugar, grains, and alcohol consumption?

Buc-fanAfter getting tons of sleep, then fitting the gym for a great workout, I was ready to sit down and enjoy as relaxing afternoon of NFL action. Little did I know my home team would blow a 24 point lead and drive me to pound the alcohol in a pathetic attempt to cope! Alas, relaxation is hard to come by when you cheer for the pathetic Buccaneers :(

I have been trying hard to deal with stress. My goal is atempting to get more sleep, get to the gym regularly and keep my diet clean. The other thing I’ve been doing is to just decide to not be stressed. This morning I made a conscious effort to enjoy the day and forget about work and other stressful parts of my life.

I also decided to have a few adult beverages and not feel bad about it! Consequently, I did okay with my food choices today, but kinda failed on the alcohol consumption front.
