Snow, Snow, Snow & Carbs
Woke up this morning excited to hit the slopes as it snowed all night. Is this why this place is called Snowmass? 😉 I abandoned the intermittent fasting due to a day of snowboarding, but I did bring my creatine along as the protocol requires a daily 5g dose. Altitude does affect the quality of my sleep, I seem to wake up often, about once every hour or so, and then I fall back a sleep. My FitBit One tracker showed me getting over ten hours of sleep!
My ketosis test (yes, I’m the nerd that carted my Ketonix breath ketone analyzer across the country) showed my in a ketogenic state in the morning. Today my food consumption was dominated by bad carbs: bagel, noodles, and pizza. In fact, my crude estimate showed me eating 319g of carbohydrate–it will be interesting to see what my ketosis test results are tomorrow morning.
My fitness level for boarding has never been better. I outlasted my whole family on the slopes today and I felt no significant fatigue. To be fair to my family, the snow was really coming down in the afternoon making conditions tough for them (but great for me).
Tune in tomorrow to see if today’s massive carb load will knock me out of ketosis and, as always…
